The address of this blog is dccexpose2.blogspot.com
This blog is a back up for the blog expose3.blogspot.com

It is essential that you know your way around your camera.
That you can quickly and easily change Aperture or Shutter speed or ISO.

Aperture Priority
You set the Aperture and the camera selects the shutter speed - based on your choice of aperture.

Shutter Priority
You select the Shutter speed and the camera selects the Aperture  - based on your choice of Shutter.

Landscape            Aperture Priority    f/11 to f/16
ISO   100            Wide angle lens like 24mm

Here is an excellent video on everything to do with Aperture.
This is the URL  >    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YojL7UQTVhc

The reason so many shots are NOT in focus is
because the shutter speed is way too low.

The blurred section is a river
The rest is a rock. Tripod?   Why?

Focus on the eye of the bird.

Shutter speed is key in action sport shots.
To get the required shutter you may need to up the ISO

                                                     More than 1/1000s

Moving Train in the background.  Shutter?

Focus on The Eyes

                                             Portrait
Aperture f/4 for single portrait
f/8 for a group  Shutter 1/250 handheld

Use a flash

 Organise the sitter/group
Choose the background

Painting:   Is DOF an issue here?

                300mm lens with a 1.4x converter = 420mm
 ISO800      1/2000       f/5.6

At ISO 100 would need a shutter of 1/250 - too slow!

Check the Histogram after each shot.

F/11 to  f/16 is a better Aperture.

Obviously a slow Shutter.
What might the Aperture have been?

             Very fast moving ball ..........
has been frozen by a very fast shutter.

Choose    1     1/2s           f/2         ISO 4000
     or        2     1/250s      f/11        ISO100

You Take a landscape shot
f/22      ISO  100     1/500s    No tripod
The shot is much too dark.
What are your options to correct exposure?

If you had a tripod - what difference would that make?

                     Shutter speed or Aperture Priority?

Same Exposure laws apply down here.

You shoot a group portrait at f/4.
The people in the second row are not in focus.
Why?
